The baby has learned to smile, and his/her smiles burst forth like holiday sparklers, lighting our hearts. Joy fills the room. At what are we smiling? We don't know and we don't care. We are communicating with one another in happiness, and the smiles are the outward display of our delight and our love.   anon

NAMING CEREMONY

The Naming Ceremony creates the ritual and symbolism connected with recognising the significance that a child has in our lives. It is a welcoming, a sharing of joy.

It is a time to acknowledge the present moment and to look into the future where others in the form of godparents may participate in the development of the child. Those appointed into this role are chosen carefully and the ceremony is very meaningful.

You might choose to light a candle or plant a tree or shrub to commemorate the life of the child.

You might choose to have a book for those attending the ceremony to write in with meaningful sentiments so that in the years to come, the child has something special to look back on.

The booklet I have prepared can guide you in choosing just the right ceremony that you want to have for your child. There are poems and readings and some sample ceremonies to consider.
